Welcome to Jonathan Dickinson State Park

Jonathan Dickinson State Park, located in Hobe Sound, FL, is a natural and historical gem spanning over 11,500 acres of diverse ecosystems and rich history. Named after Quaker merchant Jonathan Dickinson, who was shipwrecked off the Florida coast in 1696, the park offers a unique blend of nature, recreation, and cultural heritage. During World War II, it was home to Camp Murphy, an Army Signal Corps training base, with remnants of barracks still visible today.

Explore Nature’s Diversity

The park features 13 ecological communities, from rare sand pine scrub and pine flatwoods to cypress swamps and mangrove estuaries. Remarkably, 20% of the park is covered in globally imperiled sand pine scrub. The scenic Loxahatchee River, designated a National Wild and Scenic River, winds through the park under a canopy of ancient cypress trees.
